How much noise reduction does a barrier give?
Breaking the line of sight typically gives about 5 dB, with well-designed barriers achieving 10–20 dB. On a UAE expressway section, OSGT's system reduced 92 dB(A) at the roadside to 63 dB(A) behind the barrier.
Should I use absorptive or reflective barrier panels?
Use absorptive panels where receivers exist on both sides, in cuttings, or where reflections could raise levels opposite. Reflective panels are suitable and more economical where there is no opposing receiver.
